5. How To Get VyprVPN And OpenVPN Working On Chrome OS

   Chrome OS allows you to add OpenVPN connections, but attempting to add an entry for VyprVPN using the instructions or settings for other operating systems compatible with OpenVPN results in Chrome OS either not connecting to VyprVPN, or appearing connected but unable to resolve DNS queries or access websites (IP addresses). Chrome OS is probably negotiated with the server, but may not be effectively communicating due to an issue with LZO compression not being enabled when adding a private network entry to Chrome OS via the GUI.

   These instructions will get you set up for functional usage through another method.

   Chrome OS can parse .ONC files when adding network configuration information, including for VPN services. ONC files are text files in the syntax of the Open Network Configuration Format. We will use a pre-made ONC file, of which you will edit only one or two lines, and then import it into Chrome OS. This will add the VPN entry. You will set up and finished after you connect the first time and input (and save) your credentials.

   Edit the Host entry to point to the server you wish to use.
   Edit the Name entry to whatever you want. I like VyprVPN as it is simple and short.

   Luckily, even after you import the configuration file and get set up, you can always edit the server that the VPN entry points to at a later time through the GUI in Chrome OS.

   Once you get this all edited and saved to a plaintext file, store it on Google Drive or a removable storage device. Get onto your Chrome OS device, and open the Chrome browser.

   Download the following file:

   Once saved, navigate to:
   chrome://settings/certificates

   Select the Authorities tab. Click Import. Select the certificate file you saved moments ago; a new dialog box will appear. Do not check any of the boxes granting trust to the certificate... we are going to leave it as untrusted. It simply needs to be imported in order to be used. Click OK to close the Certificate Authority dialog box, and then click Done to close the Certificate Manager dialog box.

   Reboot your Chrome OS device and then log in.

   Open the Chrome browser and navigate to:
   chrome://net-internals/#chromeos

   Click Choose File under Import ONC file. Select the ONC file you created earlier. Click OK and import it.

   You're almost done.

   You may now go to the usual Settings area to find the new private network entry for VyprVPN. Make the attempt to connect to it. You will be prompted for your credentials. Input them and decide if you want to have them saved or not by clicking the respective check box that is present. Click Connect.

   You can edit the entry to change the server being used without having to re-make or re-import the ONC file again.

   Now, verify:

   You're done.

7. VyprVPN for Blackberry 10

   I have found a converted version of the Android app (1.2.1) and side loaded it, but the app would not even load. It would be great to have a native BB10 version of the app, or even a converted Android version.

   Alternately, a VPN can be set up on the device manually. The attached file contains information on the settings available. Unfortunately nothing conforms with manual options for other environments.

   Since blocking ads, trackers. Http referrers, social tracking etc is hard on mobile devices (and cumbersome on desktops) it would be a great add-on for Vypr.
   Let the VPN server do the filtering for me and sell it as an add-on like NAT.
   Small beginnings: use the filters from Adblock Plus.
   Later: Look at Ghostery and similar browser plugins to get inspiration on what to block to prevent tracking.
   Ideally: prevent browser uniqueness tracking (see this article http://panopticlick.eff.org/browser-uniqueness.pdf).

   I would suggest a price of 5-10 dollars per month for this add-on. Would also be perfect for the new business accounts.

   We implemented block malicious sites on Mac and Android VyprVPN platforms. We will consider adding this feature to all other platforms in the future.

9. Online Gaming with VyprVPN

   I can't play Battlefield 4 (and many other games) online* with London, Dublin or Iceland IP addresses. I think there are some blocked ports, but I'm not sure... It works with Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt and many other VyprVPN locations. Can you please fix this? Thanks.

   And it would be very nice if you optimize your VPN network for online players, if possible. Better ping times from Asia in general and especially from New Zealand (because of the time zones) would be great.

10. AES128 encryption

    Would be great if you could add AES128 encryption to your protocols in the VyprVPN app. At the moment, AES128 is preferred, because it provides good security, is really fast, and seems to be more resistant to timing attacks - in contrast to AES256.
    If you don't like to add this feature could you please tell me the keywords why not? I am convinced of this protocol besides your other protocols...

11. Dynamic DNS service

    Vyprvpn could call (via http) a dynamic dns service when a connection is established. This can simply be done by having an http url in the prefs, which Vyprvpn connects to, when a connection is made (and thus a new ip address assigned). Dynamic DNS services all provide a per-user url for updating the clients' ip address.

    Malwares getting more dangerous, some of them can infect your pc with a virus and and take control of it, or maybe lock your pc..who knows

    Anti filter on server side would be some nice protection against these threats

16. bypass ISP detection by hiding VPN traffic with a SSH tunnel

    Hello, as u know, a lot of ISP found a way to lock the traffic speed when we use a VPN and this with any VPN protocol, PPTP, L2TP/IPsec, OpenVPN and the last Chameleon.
    I used to Download at 11.5MB/s with L2TP/IPsec AES256 or OpenVPN 256. i had the same speed with or without VPN.
    and one day, paf ! My VPN speed dropped at 2MB/s
    as I still have full speed without VPN.
    So I searched over the internet which way would be strong enough to defeat the DPI packets decryption and unable to detect VPN traffic.
    I read some documents about SSH tunnel to redirect the VPN traffic by using this SSH tunnel, and as packet would come with a real SSH header, so the DPI would analyse this traffic as a real SSH, and it would not be able to decrypt packets if it's impossible to find that header is not a real SSH one. the tunnel will packed VPN traffic so it's no more possible to detect the vpn activity, of course because the DPI cannot see anything else than SSH traffic with headers like any other 100% real SSH headers. As i understood, there's no possibility to decrypt the packet so impossible to detect the VPN traffic using this tunnel.
    So is it an idea that is a possibility or is it a stupid idead, or maybe there are technical problems to do that, or it's an outdated solution that DPI are now able to defeat (I doubt about that as i don't understand how would they detect something unable to detect) ?
    anyway, i'm not a network engineer or a coder working on nothing else than nertworks an security networks.
    So you will be able to answer to my idea and give me reasons and infos as you know a lot about network and security network and you also created the chameleon protocol.
    I'm just a PC user trying to understand all those things used to permit data transfer between any computers all over the world.

    While we cannot develop an Apple TV app quite yet, due to restrictions on Apple’s side related to network extension support – we do offer some workarounds that will allow you to use VyprVPN with your Apple TV.

20. Vyprvpn antivirus

    I think It would be great if vyprvpn had a safe search feature or antivirus internet protection. This is a feature it is lacking that others have.
