ping failing causes reconnect
My 4G provider changes IP addresses on me regularly, which causes Vyprvpn to no longer work, but Vyprvpn doesn't notice that the connection doesn't work, it still thinks it's connected. It'd be great if a ping (say, to google's 8.8.8.8 dns server) were an occasional test, that if it fails (say, 3 times) causes an automatic disconnect/reconnect.

I also think that this sounds like a good idea.
Here in central China, I usually connect to either Japan (first preference) or South Korea. Quite often a connection is made, but no data goes out or in. This may possibly be due to the GF, but it also happens with the Chameleon protocol, which I use 90% of the time. It also happens quite often on the hour after a connection has been established (i.e. the connection timer shows one hour, or two hours, data stops being transferred, but the client doesn't automatically disconnect from the server because it thinks everything's still ok).
A reconnect usually solves the problem, so a ping fail -> reconnect might help with that.
PS: I have a static IP, not a dynamic one.
