Enable VPN client to download new files for updating before uninstalling the current version
I saw a notification on my VPN client that a new version was available, so I tried to update. The process immediately uninstalled my VPN client and then tried to download a new version. The download process was just stuck and not moving at all. Being in Beijing may have something to do with it. I couldn't even cancel because there was no cancel button and the X button on the window was made unclickable. So to make sure I stopped all related processes, I just rebooted the computer.
As the VPN client had been uninstalled, I reinstalled my older version (luckily, still had the installation binary for VyprVPN-2.3.2.2382-installer.exe). Given that updating from within the program didn't seem to be an option, I connected to VPN using the older version client and went to your website and downloaded VyprVPN-2.4.0.2797-installer.exe to install the new VPN client version.
Lo and behold when I tried to install VyprVPN-2.4.0.2797-installer.exe, it uninstalled my older VPN client again and then yet again tried to download new files. And yet again, everything ground to a halt. And yet again, I decided to just reboot and reinstall from VyprVPN-2.3.2.2382-installer.exe. The solution was to create a VPN connection from within Windows Networking and connect using that to download the necessary installation files.
This seems illogical to me. Either, the new installation binary should contain all the necessary files within itself (VyprVPN-2.3.2.2382-installer.exe certainly seems to contain everything necessary), or the update process should allow for downloading files via VPN BEFORE uninstalling the old client. I think the latter is probably a great option. :D Of course, if I were a brand new customer in Beijing, I have no idea how I would be able to even get started. :)
