I'm a student and even though the paypal hits always on my down budget period, I still afford it (don't get me wrong, I'd love cheaper too in Australia $19). The way I see it this is a business firstly, potentially not so important as say Office/Graphical/Etc software to a student. Communication plan with just txt/voice, yes that would be an advantage.
